If the resources of a Data Transmission Service (DTS) dedicated cluster do not meet your business requirements, you can add more nodes or increase the storage space of nodes to improve the business capabilities of the cluster. This topic describes how to scale out a DTS dedicated cluster by increasing the number of nodes.
Billing
You are charged for new nodes on a daily basis. The expiration time of the new nodes added to a DTS dedicated cluster is the same as that of the existing nodes in the cluster.
For example, a DTS dedicated cluster with two nodes and a subscription duration of one month was created on March 1, 2022. On March 15, 2022, you increased the number of nodes in the DTS dedicated cluster. The new nodes were billed based on the remaining days of the month. Both the new nodes and existing nodes expired on March 31, 2022. If you renew the DTS dedicated cluster after it expires, all nodes in the DTS dedicated cluster are billed on a monthly basis.
Usage notes
- The number of nodes in a DTS dedicated cluster can only be increased.
- In a DTS dedicated cluster, the storage space of each node must be the same.
- If the number of available DTS units (DUs) in a DTS dedicated cluster drops to four or less, or the CPU utilization, memory usage, or disk usage reaches 80% or higher, you must scale out the cluster at the earliest opportunity. This prevents performance, stability, or disaster recovery issues of the cluster caused by insufficient resources.
Procedure
- Go to the Dedicated Cluster page.
- In the top navigation bar, select the region in which you want to create a DTS dedicated cluster.
- On the Cluster Task page, use one of the following methods to go to the configuration change page.
- Find the DTS dedicated cluster that you want to scale out. Click the icon in the Actions column and select Scale out Cluster.
- Find the DTS dedicated cluster that you want to scale out. Click its ID or click Details in the Actions column. In the upper part of the Cluster Management page, click Scale out Cluster.
- On the configuration change page, configure the following parameters.
Parameter Description Cluster Type of DTS Instance The type of the cluster. Select Dedicated Cluster. Number of Dedicated Cluster Nodes The number of nodes in the DTS dedicated cluster after the scale-out. Note The value that you select must be greater than the current number of nodes in the DTS dedicated cluster. You can set the value up to 100. - Read and select the check box to agree to the Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now.
- On the Purchase page, complete the payment by following the on-screen instructions.
