Data Transmission Service (DTS) allows you to add an environment tag to a DTS instance to identify the instance. On the Tasks page, you can add, modify, and remove environment tags for DTS instances. You can also filter DTS instances by environment tag.
Background information
The environment tags in DTS help you identify instances without affecting the instance status. For example, you can identify the importance of an instance by using the environment tag displayed in the ID/Name column on the Tasks pages after you add an environment tag to the instance.

The DTS instance is displayed on the Tasks page.
Usage notes
You can add only one environment tag to an instance.
Custom environment tags are not supported.

In this example, a data synchronization instance is used.
Add an environment tag
For a DTS instance that is being configured, you can select an Environment Tag for the DTS instance in the Advanced Settings step. For a DTS instance that is displayed on the Data Synchronization Tasks page, you can perform the following steps to add an environment tag to the instance:
Go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page.
Log on to the DMS console.
In the top navigation bar, click DTS.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
NoteThe actual operation may vary depending on the mode and layout of DMS. For more information, see Simple mode and Customize the layout and style of the DMS console.
You can also go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page of the new DTS console.
From the drop-down list to the right of Data Synchronization Tasks, select the region in which you want to create the data synchronization task.
NoteIf you use the new DTS console, select the region in which you want to create the data synchronization task in the upper-left corner of the page.
Find the data synchronization instance that you want to manage and click the
icon in the Actions column. Then, click Add Environment Tag.In the Set Environment Tag dialog box, select an environment tag from the Environment Tag drop-down list.
NoteOnly Regular and Production Environment are available. You can assign your own interpretations to the two tags based on your business scenarios.
Click OK.
Modify an environment tag
Go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page in the DTS console.
Find the data synchronization instance that you want to manage and click the
icon in the Actions column. Then, click Modify Environment Tag.In the Set Environment Tag dialog box, select an environment tag from the Environment Tag drop-down list.
NoteIf you want to remove the environment tag from the instance, select None.
Click OK.
Filter instances by environment tag
Go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page in the DTS console.
From the drop-down list to the right of Data Synchronization Tasks, select the region in which you want to create the data synchronization task.
NoteIf you use the new DTS console, select the region in which you want to create the data synchronization task in the upper-left corner of the page.
Select an environment tag from the Environment Tag drop-down list.
NoteYou can also click the icon next to the selected environment tag to cancel filtering.
