This topic describes the features that are supported for database administrators (DBAs) in Data Management (DMS).

Operations in the DMS console

Log on to the DMS console. Register a database instance with DMS. For more information, see Instance management.
Configure security rules for the instance as needed. Security rules define database development standards and processes, and approval processes. Only instances that are managed in Security Collaboration mode support custom security rules. For more information, see Manage security rules and Configure approval processes.
Grant permissions on databases and tables to users. For more information, see Permissions.

Features that are supported for DBAs

Data assets	Instance management	You can use this feature to manage instances. For example, you can register, view, or modify instances.
Data assets	Use the asset category feature	You can use this feature to classify tables. This helps DMS administrators, developers, and O&M engineers to better manage and use tables.
SQL console	Single database query	You can write SQL statements to query data in a single database. This feature can be used to verify business code, analyze product effects, and identify issues in an online environment.
SQL console	Cross-database query	You can use this feature to perform join queries across online heterogeneous databases that are deployed in different environments.
Database development	Schema design	When you develop or optimize projects or process new business requirements, you can use this feature to change schemas. For example, you can use this feature to create a table or modify an existing table.
	Database and table synchronization	You can use this feature to compare and synchronize the schemas of tables that are stored in different environments, such as online and offline environments. This feature helps ensure the consistency of schemas.
	Data changes	You can submit data change tickets to initialize data for a newly published project, clean up historical data, fix bugs, or run a test.
	Data import	You can submit data import tickets to import a large amount of data to your databases at a time.
	Data export	You can submit data export tickets to export a large amount of data for analysis or export the required data.
	Data tracking	If specific data fails to meet your requirements due to reasons such as accidental operations, you can use this feature to restore data to the normal state.
	Test data generation	Some business scenarios may require you to frequently prepare data. In this case, you can use this feature to generate test data to ensure data security and discreteness, and improve production efficiency.
	SQL review	You can use this feature to prevent SQL statements that do not use indexes or do not conform to database development standards. This feature helps protect against SQL injection attacks.
	Database cloning	You can use this feature to clone MySQL databases.
Data Transmission Service (DTS)	Task orchestration	You can use the task orchestration feature to orchestrate various types of tasks and then schedule and run the tasks. You can create a task flow that consists of one or more task nodes. This helps schedule tasks in complex scenarios and improve the efficiency of data development.
Security and specifications	Security rules	You can use this feature to configure security rules. Only SQL statements that conform to the security rules can be executed.
	Approval processes	Approval processes are associated with security rules. You can configure different approval processes for different types of tickets.
	Operation audit	Operation logs record data changes. Each record contains information such as the user who performed the operation, operation details, and the time at which the operation was performed. You can use this feature to track historical user operations at any time.
	Sensitive data management	You can use this feature to manage sensitive data. For example, you can use algorithms to mask sensitive data or adjust the sensitivity levels of sensitive data.
	Use data watermarks	You can embed or extract data watermarks to trace the origin of data during the distribution of data.
	Permission management	You can use this feature to apply for permissions on instances, databases, tables, and sensitive fields. You can also view the permissions that you have.
Solutions	Create data warehouses	The one-click data warehousing feature allows you to create a data warehouse for real-time data synchronization with ease. You can synchronize data to an AnalyticDB for MySQL database within seconds.
	Overview	The data archiving feature regularly archives the data of large tables to other databases. You can delete the data from source tables and optimize and free up tablespace storage.
	Database migration	You can create a ticket to migrate a database, perform checks, and delete the migrated source database.
O&M management	Notification	You can configure notification rules to subscribe to the events of various features and specify the recipients of event notifications based on your business requirements.
	Database grouping	You can use this feature to apply a data change or schema design to all of the databases in a database group with ease.
	Manage tasks	You can use this feature to manage tasks. For example, you can create, start, or stop tasks.
	Intelligent O&M	You can use this feature to view overall information about your DMS tenant, such as statistics about tickets, queries, users, and metadata.
