Edge Security Acceleration:Manage versions

Last Updated:Sep 25, 2024

After version management is enabled for a website, Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) dynamically divides website configurations into version-level configurations and global configurations for the website.

Create a version

After version management is enabled for a website, ESA dynamically divides website configurations into version-level configurations and global configurations for the website.

Note
  • When you enable version management for a website, ESA automatically creates version 0 for the website.

  • You cannot directly create a version. You can create a version only by cloning an existing version. The version number of the version created from cloning automatically increments by one.

  1. Log on to the ESA console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Websites.

  3. On the Websites page, find the website that you want to manage, and click the website name or View Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the left-side navigation tree, choose Version Management > Versions. Find the version that you want to clone and click Clone in the Actions column.

  5. In the message that appears, click OK.

Modify version configurations

  1. Log on to the ESA console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Websites.

  3. On the Websites page, find the website that you want to manage, and click the website name or View Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the left-side navigation tree, choose Version Management > Versions. Find the version that you want to select and click Select in the Actions column.

Make a version read-only

We recommend that you select the Read-only Environment check box for the production environment to make the version in the production environment read-only. This can prevent version configurations in the production environment from being accidentally modified.

You can modify the configurations of the version in the production environment by using one of the following methods:

  • Change the version in the environment to another version and change configurations of the version.

  • Clear the Read-only Environment check box for the environment and promote the newer version to the production environment.

Compare versions

  1. Log on to the ESA console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Websites.

  3. On the Websites page, find the website that you want to manage, and click the website name or View Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the left-side navigation tree, choose Version Management > Versions. Find the version that you want to compare and click Compare in the Actions column.

  5. In the Compare Version panel, select the version that you want to compare with, and click Compare.

    Note

Version comparison provides a clear view of differences between two versions.

Delete a version

Important
  • Before you delete a version, make sure that the version is not deployed to any environment.

  • A deleted version cannot be recovered.

  1. Log on to the ESA console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Websites.

  3. On the Websites page, find the website that you want to manage, and click the website name or View Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the left-side navigation tree, choose Version Management > Versions.

  5. Find the version that you want to delete and click Delete in the Actions column.

View metrics

After you switch traffic to an environment in which a version is deployed, you can view traffic information and logs for the specified version.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Websites.

  3. On the Websites page, find the website that you want to manage, and click the website name or View Details in the Actions column.
