Edge Security Acceleration:IPv6

Last Updated:Sep 19, 2024

IPv6 is introduced to solve the pain point of IPv4 address exhaustion, which hinders Internet development. Alibaba Cloud Dynamic Content Delivery Network (DCDN) has always committed itself to the robust and sustainable development of Internet technologies. To this end, DCDN enables the IPv6 feature for all websites free of charge. You can use IPv4 or IPv6 addresses to access networks based on your business requirements. After you enable IPv6, IPv6 clients can access DCDN over IPv6. When DCDN accesses the origin server, DCDN carries the IPv6 information.

Background information

Most DCDN points of presence (POPs) support IPv6. After you enable IPv6, clients can send IPv6 requests to the nearest POPs if the clients are in an IPv6 environment and the POPs support IPv6. If the nearest POPs do not support IPv6, the clients can send IPv4 requests to the POPs.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ESA console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Websites.

  3. On the Websites page, find the website that you want to manage, and click the website name or View Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the left-side navigation tree, click Network.

  5. Turn on or off the IPv6 switch based on your business requirements. By default, the switch is turned on.
