:View or modify the backup policy of a backup instance

Last Updated:Jul 14, 2023

Database Backup (DBS) allows you to modify the backup policy of a backup instance, including the backup cycle, backup time, and retention period of backup sets. This topic describes how to view or modify the backup policy of a backup instance.

Prerequisites

A backup instance is configured. For more information, see Configure a backup instance.

Usage notes

  • You can modify only the data backup policy. You cannot modify the log backup policy. By default, log backup is enabled, and logs are readable. You cannot disable the log backup feature. The retention period of log backup sets is 30 days and cannot be changed.

  • The data backup policy takes effect immediately after it is modified. Existing data backup sets are retained based on the latest retention policy.

  • When DBS backs up a database, the performance of the database is affected. We recommend that you run backup tasks during off-peak hours.

View the backup policy of a backup instance

  1. Go to the Data Source page. Find the data source that you want to view and click View Backup Policy in the Actions column.image

  2. On the Backup Policy page, click the Logical Backup tab to view the backup policy of the DBS backup instance.
