Database Autonomy Service:FAQ

Last Updated:Nov 21, 2025

After you enable Database Autonomy Service (DAS) Enterprise Edition, formerly known as Professional Edition, you can use the SQL Explorer and Audit feature. The functionality of SQL Explorer and Audit, data storage modes, and billing rules vary depending on the DAS Enterprise Edition version. This topic describes these differences and answers frequently asked questions (FAQs) about data migration between versions.

What are the differences between the SQL Explorer and Audit features in different versions of DAS Enterprise Edition?

On the Version Management page of the DAS console, you can determine the DAS Enterprise Edition version of a database instance from the tab under which it is listed.

The SQL Explorer and Audit feature, data storage mode, and billing rules differ for each version of DAS Enterprise Edition.

DAS Enterprise Edition V3

DAS Enterprise Edition V2

DAS Enterprise Edition V1

DAS Enterprise Edition V0

Billable items

This version uses the pay-as-you-go billing method. The billable items are:

  • Log traffic

  • Log index

  • SQL Explorer

  • Hot storage

  • Cold storage

  • Cold query

  • Download

Enterprise Edition V3 uses a hybrid storage model for hot and cold data and provides more granular, feature-based billable items. This approach offers more flexible billing and significantly reduces costs. For more information, see Billing details.

This version uses the pay-as-you-go billing method. The billable items are:

  • Hot storage

  • Cold storage

  • Cold query

Compared to Enterprise Edition V1, Enterprise Edition V2 uses a different underlying storage architecture. It employs a hybrid storage model for hot and cold data to improve performance at a lower cost. For more information, see Billing details.

The fees consist of a subscription fee and a storage fee for SQL Explorer and Audit.

Data from SQL Explorer and Audit is stored in hot storage. A relatively high storage fee is charged on a pay-as-you-go basis. For more information, see Billing details.

Search, SQL Explorer, and security audit

DAS creates a task that you can track if one of the following conditions is met:

  • You query, export, or analyze historical data that is more than seven days old.

  • The query time range exceeds one day.

DAS directly queries, exports, and analyzes stored data without creating an asynchronous task.

Task list

This is a new feature.

You can view the tasks and their details created by features such as search, export, SQL Explorer, and security audit.

This feature is not available.

OpenAPI

You can call the GetDasSQLLogHotData operation to query the details of hot data from SQL Explorer and Audit for a database instance.

You can call the DescribeSQLLogRecords operation to query the log details from SQL Explorer and Audit for a database instance.

Note

After you migrate to Enterprise Edition V3, the DescribeSQLLogRecords operation is no longer supported. You can call only the GetDasSQLLogHotData operation.

If DAS Enterprise Edition data is being migrated, can I use the SQL Explorer and Audit feature of the destination version? How am I billed during the migration?

No, you cannot. While your DAS Enterprise Edition data is being migrated, you can only use the SQL Explorer and Audit feature of the source version, and you are billed according to the source version's rules. After the migration is complete, DAS automatically disables the feature for the source version and enables it for the destination version. You are then billed according to the destination version's rules. For more information, see Billing details.

Why is the cold and hot data size 0 GB in the destination edition after migration, when there was data in the source edition?

After data migration, the statistics for the storage data size in the destination version may be delayed. This data latency does not affect your use of the SQL Explorer and Audit feature in the destination version.

Why is the data size in DAS Enterprise Edition V3 different from the data size in DAS Enterprise Edition V0/V1 after migration?

  • DAS Enterprise Edition V3 uses hybrid storage for hot and cold data. After data is migrated from Enterprise Edition V0 or V1 to Enterprise Edition V3, data from the last seven days is stored as hot data. Older data is stored as cold data.

  • The Enterprise Edition V0/V1 console displays the size of compressed data. After migration, the Enterprise Edition V3 console displays the size of the raw, uncompressed data. Therefore, the data size may appear larger after migration.

    Note

Although the storage data size increases, a large amount of data is moved to cold storage after migration. Enterprise Edition V3 provides 30 days of free cold storage, and the cost of cold storage is significantly lower than before.

How do I view the storage space used by the data of an Enterprise Edition instance?

  1. Log on to the DAS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Intelligent O&M Center > Instance Monitoring to go to the Instance Monitoring page.

  3. On the Instance Monitoring page, click the name of the target instance to go to the instance details page.

  4. In the left-side navigation pane, click SQL Explorer and Audit.

  5. View the storage space used by the data of SQL Explorer and Audit next to the Service Settings button.
