Cloud Parallel File Storage:What is CPFS for Lingjun (invitational preview)?

Last Updated:Nov 22, 2024

Cloud Parallel File Storage (CPFS) for Lingjun is a file storage service with ultra-high performance developed by Alibaba Cloud. CPFS for Lingjun provides end-to-end Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) and can be used in intelligent computing scenarios such as AIGC and autonomous driving. This topic describes the limits, billing, and operation guide of CPFS for Lingjun. For more information about the performance metrics of CPFS, see Storage types.

Limits

  • Only the Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) protocol is supported.

  • This service is supported only in the Singapore region.

  • You can only scale up a CPFS for Lingjun file system.

  • This service can be used only with Lingjun resources, general Platform for AI (PAI) computing resources, and Lingjun resources of the single-tenant version. You cannot access CPFS for Lingjun file systems from Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances. For more information about PAI computing resources, see Overview.

Billing

CPFS for Lingjun supports only the pay-as-you-go billing method for the storage fees. You cannot use CPFS resource plans to deduct the storage fees.

Billing method

Capacity of a CPFS for Lingjun file system

A file system is billed based on the purchased capacity and the service duration.

You are billed on an hourly basis. The fees are automatically deducted from the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account immediately after bills are generated. Generally, a bill is generated after a billing cycle ends. The actual time when bills are generated prevail.

Pay-as-you-go: Storage fees = Capacity (GiB) × Unit price per month/30 days/24 hours.

Create and use a CPFS for Lingjun file system

CPFS for Lingjun is in invitational preview and can be used only with Lingjun AI Computing Service. If you want to use CPFS for Lingjun, submit a ticket to apply for the qualification.

  1. Create a CPFS for Lingjun file system. For more information, see the "Create a CPFS for Lingjun file system" section of the Create a file system topic.

If you have not applied for the qualification to use CPFS for Lingjun, submit a ticket. After you are authorized to use CPFS for Lingjun, log on to the File Storage NAS (NAS) console to create a CPFS for Lingjun file system.

  2. Use the CPFS for Lingjun file system.

    • Use with Lingjun resources

To mount the CPFS for Lingjun file system, you must create a dataset in the PAI console and select the dataset when you create an AI development task. For more information about how to create a dataset, see Create and manage datasets.

    • Use with general computing resources

To mount the CPFS for Lingjun file system, you must create a mount target in the virtual private cloud (VPC) in which the file system resides, create a dataset in the PAI console, and then select the dataset when you create an AI development task. For more information about how to create a dataset, see Create and manage datasets.

    • Use with Lingjun resources of the single-tenant version

Configure CPFS for Lingjun when you create Lingjun resources of the single-tenant version. After the configuration is complete, the Lingjun cluster is automatically initialized during automated deployment. For more information, see Activate and configure other Alibaba Cloud services.

  3. (Optional) Delete the CPFS for Lingjun file system.

If you no longer use the CPFS for Lingjun file system, you can clear the files in the file system and delete the file system. For more information, see Delete a CPFS for Lingjun file system.
