Cloud Migration Hub:Use the batch assistant feature

This topic describes how to add migration configurations and initiate multiple migration tasks at a time by using the batch assistant feature of Cloud Migration Hub (CMH).

Overview

The batch assistant feature helps you initiate multiple migration tasks at a time, migrate data from multiple source databases to Alibaba Cloud databases, and customize mappings for databases and tables to be migrated. You can also run full data migration tasks and full and incremental data migration tasks. This feature is applicable to multiple scenarios. For example, migrate data to the cloud or migrate data between Alibaba Cloud instances.

The following figure shows the procedure for using batch assistant.

Make sure that your source database can be connected to the destination database, and you add the CIDR blocks of DTS servers to the Add the CIDR blocks of DTS servers to the security settings of on-premises databases of the source database.

Add migration configurations

Log on to the CMH console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Migration > Batch assistant. In the Batch assistant-DTS wizard, add migration configurations in the Migration mapping list step.

You can click Add migration configuration to add migration configurations. You can also click Download Template to download a template, fill in the template, and then click Upload migration configuration to upload the template.

If you click Add migration configuration in the upper-left corner, configure the parameters in the Add migration configuration dialog box. Then, click Submit. For more information about the parameters, see References of batch assistant

Define table mappings

After you add migration configurations, click Table mapping definition in the Operation column. In the panel that appears, define table mappings. For more information, see Objects of DTS tasks.

Make sure that you define table mappings for all migration configurations. Otherwise, you cannot proceed to the next step.

Add migration configurations by using a template

If you click Download Template in the upper-right corner, fill in the template downloaded in an Excel file. Then, click Upload migration configuration in the upper-right corner to upload the template. CMH automatically adds the migration configurations that you entered in the template.

Modify or delete migration configurations

After you add migration configurations, you can click Edit in the Operation column to modify the configurations.

If you want to delete migration configurations, select the configurations that you want to delete and click Batch delete.

After you confirm the added migration configurations, click Next.

Create DTS tasks

In the Create DTS step, configure DTS migration tasks as promoted. For more information, see References of batch assistant Click Submission to initiate multiple DTS migration tasks at a time by using the batch assistant feature.
