On-premises VMware VM backup

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up on-premises VMware virtual machines (VMs) to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. The feature is developed based on the snapshot and disk-level data reading capabilities of VMware. You do not need to install the Cloud Backup client on the VM operating system. You can restore a specified version from the cloud to an on-premises VMware VM when needed.

On-premises NAS backup

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up on-premises NAS file systems to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. The following file storage protocols are supported: Network File System (NFS), Common Internet File System (CIFS), and Server Message Block (SMB). Backup is performed concurrently on multiple nodes. On-premises NAS backup is centrally managed on the cloud.

Overview (on-premises NAS backup)

Large-scale file system backup

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up large-scale file systems such as Cloud Parallel File Storage (CPFS) and GlusterFS to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. Backup is performed concurrently on multiple nodes. Large-scale file system backup is centrally managed on the cloud.

Alibaba Cloud data backup

OSS backup

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up objects in Object Storage Service (OSS) buckets to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. This agentless backup feature is cloud-native and ready-to-use.

Overview (OSS backup)

File Storage NAS backup

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up File Storage NAS (NAS) file systems to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. This agentless backup feature is cloud-native and ready-to-use.

Overview (File Storage NAS backup)

Tablestore backup

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up Tablestore tables to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. This agentless backup feature is cloud-native and ready-to-use.

Overview (Tablestore backup)

ECS instance backup

The Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance backup feature is designed based on disk snapshots for the management of ECS instance data. Cloud Backup allows you to configure backup policies, and restore and clone ECS instances.

Overview (ECS instance backup)

ECS file backup

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up ECS files to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. Cloud Backup allows you to back up and restore files and file directories.

Overview (ECS file backup)

Backup of ECS-hosted databases

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up ECS-hosted databases to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. Multiple versions of MySQL, SQL Server, and Oracle are supported. MySQL and Oracle databases can be backed up in real time and restored to any second.

Overview (ECS-hosted databases)

Backup of ECS-hosted SAP HANA databases

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up ECS-hosted SAP HANA databases to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. If logical errors, ransomware attacks, or other incidents occur, you can restore data from the backup vaults.

Overview (SAP HANA backup)

Backup of VMs deployed on ACVS

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up VMs deployed on Alibaba Cloud VMware Service (ACVS) to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. You can restore a specified version to ACVS as needed.

Overview (VMware backup and disaster recovery)

ECS Backup Essential Edition

You can back up and restore ECS instances, ECS files, and self-managed databases (MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server). Basic ECS Backup meets the basic requirements of small and medium-sized customers or developers for ECS data backup and recovery, so as to protect ECS data and meet compliance requirements.

What is ECS Backup Essential Edition?

CPFS backup

CPFS file systems, CPFS for LINGJUN file systems, and GlusterFS file systems are periodically backed up to backup vaults of Cloud Backup based on preset backup policies. Backup and restore of files and directories are supported.

ECS cross-region and cross-zone disaster recovery

Cloud Backup provides cross-region and cross-zone disaster recovery capabilities for ECS instances, meeting the recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO) goals of your business.

Disaster recovery for on-premises business

Disaster recovery for on-premises VMware VMs

You can configure a backup policy to periodically back up on-premises VMware VMs to backup vaults of Cloud Backup. You can restore a specified version from the cloud to an ECS instance. You can migrate on-premises VMware business systems to the cloud for disaster recovery with hour-level RPO and RTO. Data security

KMS-based encryption

You can use customer master keys (CMKs) provided by Key Management Service (KMS) to encrypt the data stored in backup vaults, meeting security compliance requirements.

KMS-based encryption

Immutable backup

Cloud Backup provides the immutable backup feature based on the write once, read many (WORM) technology. The feature helps you prevent accidental operations and malicious attacks from within the enterprise and meet security compliance requirements.

Immutable backup

Backup point virus detection

You can perform automatic or manual policy-based virus detection at file backup points to detect at-risk files. This feature ensures that pure backup points are available for data restoration and prevents secondary pollution to the production environment.

Backup point virus detection

Redundant backup

Cross-region backup

To meet the requirements for disaster recovery, you can create a remote mirror vault for a backup vault. The data in the backup vault is automatically replicated to the mirror vault.

Cross-region backup

Unified backup

Policy center

You can configure independent backup policies for different backup sources and apply the policies to multiple resources. You can manage backup policies in a unified manner and flexibly back up data.

Manage backup policies

Cross-account backup

You can use an Alibaba Cloud account (Account A) to back up the data of another Alibaba Cloud account (Account B). The feature helps you centrally manage data protection and settle bills for multiple branches that are located in different regions.

Cross-account backup

Cost control

Automatic archiving

Backup data that is retained at the Standard tier for 30 days can be automatically transferred to the Archive tier for cost-efficient and long-term storage.
