Cloud Backup:How do I stop being billed for Cloud Backup?

Last Updated:Feb 26, 2025

After you activate Cloud Backup, you cannot deactivate the service. If you no longer need to use Cloud Backup, you can follow the steps in this topic to stop billing for each data source. This ensures that billing is stopped immediately on the day when you stop billing to prevent additional charges. You will no longer receive Cloud Backup service bills from the day after you delete the backup vault.

Usage notes

  • If a backup plan fails to be deleted, backups still exist in the backup plan. Delete all related backups before you delete the backup plan.

  • A backup point may fail to be deleted due to the following reasons:

    • Keep At Least One Backup Version is enabled for the current backup policy. As a result, the last backup cannot be deleted directly. We recommend that you disable this option and then attempt to delete the backup.

    • The immutable backup feature is enabled for the backup vault. The backup vault and all backup data in the backup vault cannot be deleted until the retention period expires. The backup data is automatically released after it expires.

  • A backup vault may fail to be deleted due to the following reasons:

    • The immutable backup feature is enabled for the backup vault. The backup vault and all backup data in the backup vault cannot be deleted until the retention period expires. Wait until the backup data expires and then delete the backup vault.

    • A remote mirror vault is created for the backup vault. We recommend that you delete the mirror vault and then delete the backup vault.

    • The backup vault is associated with a backup policy. We recommend that you go to the Policy Center page to delete the associated policy before you delete the backup vault.
