After you activate Cloud Backup, you cannot deactivate the service. If you no longer need to use Cloud Backup, you must uninstall the Cloud Backup client (if any) and delete the backup vault. This way, you can stop being billed for Cloud Backup. You will no longer receive Cloud Backup service bills from the day after you delete the backup vault.
Uninstall the Cloud Backup client
If you delete a Cloud Backup client, the client configurations are permanently deleted and cannot be restored. We recommend that you proceed with caution to prevent accidental data loss.
If a Cloud Backup client is installed, you must uninstall the client to stop being billed for Cloud Backup. To uninstall a Cloud Backup client, perform the following steps. A Cloud Backup client for Elastic Compute Service (ECS) file backup is used as an example.
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Find the ECS instance for which you want to uninstall the Cloud Backup client and choose . In the top navigation bar, select a region. On the ECS File Backup page, click New Version. in the Actions column. In the message that appears, click OK. After a few minutes, the client status changes to Uninstalled.
Choose in the Actions column.
After you uninstall the Cloud Backup client on an on-premises server, we recommend that you delete the related temporary files from the installation directory to prevent conflicts that may occur when you install the client again. For more information, see How do I uninstall a Cloud Backup client?
Delete the backup vault
If you delete a backup vault, all the backup data stored in the backup vault and the related configurations are permanently deleted and cannot be restored. We recommend that you proceed with caution to prevent accidental data loss.
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
Click Storage Vaults. On the Storage Vaults page, select the region where the backup vault that you want to delete resides. Choose in the Actions column of the backup vault.
In the message that appears, click OK.
Stop billing for ECS instance backup
If you stop billing for ECS instance backup, you are not billed only for Cloud Backup. You are still billed for snapshots until all backup points expire or are manually deleted.
Backup policies are manually associated with the source ECS instance
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Backup > ECS Instance Backup. In the top navigation bar, select a region. Find the ECS instance and choose
in the Actions column.Optional. If you have not enabled the Immutable Backup feature, find the ECS instance and choose
in the Actions column. In the Delete Backup Point dialog box, select and delete all backup points.Choose
in the Actions column to remove the ECS instance.
Backup policies are associated with multiple resources by specifying tags
After you remove resource tags from a backup policy for an ECS instance and disassociate the ECS instance from the backup policy, you are no longer billed for ECS instance backup.
Stop billing for ECS disaster recovery
You are billed for the ECS instances and disk resources involved in ECS disaster recovery based on their respective pricing.

Elastic Block Storage (EBS) async replication for ECS disaster recovery is in public preview and is free of charge.
You are no longer billed after you remove all protected ECS instances from the disaster recovery site pair in continuous data replication (CDR) for ECS disaster recovery.
