Limits on the names of Facebook Pages

The name of a Facebook Page must accurately identify the Facebook Page. Note that only authorized representatives can manage a Facebook Page for a brand, place, organization, or public figure.

The names cannot include the following content:

  • Terms or phrases that may be abusive or violate the rights of others.

  • The word "official". If a Facebook Page is not the official Page of a brand, place, organization, or public figure, the word "official" cannot be used.

  • Improper capitalization. The names of Facebook Pages must use grammatically correct capitalization and cannot include all capital letters, except for acronyms.

  • Symbols or unnecessary punctuation.

  • Descriptions or slogans, such as The Best Cafe - We serve the best coffee in the town. The managers of Facebook Pages can add such information to the About section.

The names cannot consist only of the following content:

  • A single and general word, such as Pizza. Avoid any names that are too broad.

  • General geographic locations, such as New York.
