This topic describes how to decouple a standby instance from the primary instance so that the standby instance becomes a new instance irrelevant to the original primary instance.
Background
You can decouple a standby instance from the primary instance to get two independent instances. This operation can improve resource utilization and can be performed in scenarios such as business splitting.
Prerequisites
The current instance to be decoupled is a standby instance.
The current standby instance and its tenants are in the Running state.
Procedure
Log on to the ApsaraDB for OceanBase console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances. In the instance list, select the target primary instance to go to its workspace page.
In the instance list, click the More icon in the Actions column of the target standby instance and then select Disconnect Standby Instance.
Click OK.
NoteThe decoupled standby instance becomes an independent cluster instance. This operation is irreversible.
For two cluster instances in primary/standby mode, after the standby instance is decoupled, the primary instance becomes a regular cluster instance.
After the decoupling operation succeeds, data backup and log backup are automatically enabled.
