CloudMonitor:Test the connectivity and latency of sites or APIs

To learn about the connectivity and latency of a website, you can simulate the access requests of end users in different regions and network environments by using detection points. This way, you can obtain the access data from the detection points in each region to the website. This topic describes how to monitor a site by using access from end users to the Taobao homepage as an example.

Prerequisites

Network Analysis and Monitoring is activated. For more information, see Activate Network Analysis and Monitoring.

Step 1: Create a site monitoring task

  1. Log on to the CloudMonitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Network Analysis and Monitoring > Site Monitoring.

  3. On the Monitoring Tasks tab, click Create Task.

  4. On the Create Task page, select PC side (PC) and configure the parameters of the site monitoring task.

    For more information about the parameters of the site monitoring task, see Use PCs to monitor sites.

    • Basic Information

      Select HTTP(S) for Task Type, enter a task name, and enter https://www.taobao.com/ in Monitored Address. Retain the default settings for the other parameters.

    • Select Detection Points

      Use the default detection points.

    • Configure Alert Rules

      The default Availability Rate alert rule is used.

    • Select Alert Contact Groups

      Select an alert contact group. Retain the default settings for the other parameters. For more information, see Create an alert contact or alert contact group.

  5. Click Create.

Step 2: View the site monitoring results

After you create a site monitoring task, you can view the detection results. When you receive a resolution exception alert, you can analyze the cause of the alert based on the specific alert information. You can also troubleshoot the issue based on the detection results.

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Network Analysis and Monitoring > Site Monitoring.

  2. On the Monitoring Tasks tab, click the name of the site monitoring task.

    You can view the detection analysis results and alert information of the site from various dimensions.
