Cloud Enterprise Network:Billing rules

Last Updated:Nov 29, 2024

To achieve network connectivity using the Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN), you must create a transit router in the network. Following that, you can connect instances through the transit router. You are charged for the connections.

Rules

Minimum billing cycle

Method

Transit router

Connection fee

Billed by the number of connections in a region and the duration of use.

Connections include VPC, ECR, VBR, and VPN connections.

Duration of use is calculated from when a connection is created until it is terminated.

Hourly rate (USD per connection per hour) × number of connections × duration of use (hours)

1 hour.

Partial hours are billed as full.

Pay-as-you-go

Data transfer fee

Billed by the volume of traffic ingress to the transit router.

Hourly rate (USD per GB) × traffic ingress to the transit router (GB)

1 hour

Inter-region

Bandwidth fee

(Pay-by-data-transfer)

Billed by the volume of traffic egress from the transit router and managed through the Cloud Data Transfer (CDT) products.

Applicable to scenarios with unpredictable and significant traffic fluctuations, such as temporary expansions, testing, video conferencing, and real-time gaming.

Hourly rate (USD per GB) × traffic volume egress (GB) from the transit router

1 hour

Bandwidth fee

(Pay-by-bandwidth)

You must purchase a bandwidth plan and then allocate bandwidth for the connection. Billing is based on the bandwidth capacity and the subscription period.

Best suited for businesses with consistent traffic patterns and predictable business needs, such as file transfers, data migrations, and data synchronization.

Hourly rate (USD per Mbps per month) × bandwidth capacity (Mbps) × subscription period (months)

1 month

Pricing

The prices listed below are catalog prices and the actual price may vary. Please refer to the product purchase page for the final price.

Hourly rate of connection

  • Chinese Mainland: 0.05 USD/connection/hour.

  • Outside the Chinese Mainland: 0.06 USD/connection/hour.

Note
  • Regions in the Chinese Mainland include China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Nanjing - Local Region), China (Fuzhou - Local Region), China (Shenzhen), China (Heyuan), China (Guangzhou), China (Qingdao), China (Beijing), China (Zhangjiakou), China (Hohhot), China (Ulanqab), China (Chengdu), and China (Wuhan - Local Region).

  • Regions outside the Chinese Mainland include Singapore, China (Hong Kong), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Indonesia (Jakarta), Philippines (Manila), Japan (Tokyo), South Korea (Seoul), Thailand (Bangkok), Germany (Frankfurt), UK (London), US (Virginia), US (Silicon Valley), and SAU (Riyadh - Partner Region).

Hourly rate of data transfer

0.02 USD/GB for all regions.

Hourly rate of inter-region bandwidth

You can choose either Gold or Platinum for inter-region connections. They provide different levels of data transmission at varying hourly rates and accommodate various scenarios.

Service level

Service availability

Applicable scenario

Gold

99.95%

Services with moderate network quality requirements, such as data synchronization and file transfer.

Platinum

99.995%

Services that require high network quality and low latency, such as securities transactions, online voice chat, video conferencing, and real-time gaming.

Pay-by-data-transfer

Hourly rates for data transfer between regions in the Chinese Mainland:

  • Gold: 0.072 USD/GB.

  • Platinum: 0.108 USD/GB.

For pricing details of data transfer in other regions, see Pricing of inter-region data transfer.

Pay-by-bandwidth

Bandwidth is billed on a tiered pricing model and only Gold is supported. The table below lists the bandwidth hourly rates in the Chinese Mainland. For the pricing information in regions outside the Chinese Mainland, refer to the final price on the purchase page.

For example, you have purchased a bandwidth plan for network connections in the Chinese Mainland for a month with a maximum bandwidth value of 110 Mbps. You are charged:

34 USD/Mbps/month × 100 Mbps × 1 month + 13 USD/Mbps/month × 10 Mbps × 1 month = 3,530 USD

Note

Starting from March 31, 2021, new users of Alibaba Cloud are eligible for a one-month free trial of CEN bandwidth plans with a maximum bandwidth of 5 Mbit/s. For more information, see CEN free trial.

Billing examples

Example 1: Intra-region connection

image

As illustrated in the preceding figure, a transit router has been created in China (Hangzhou) to connect two VPCs in the same region, VPC1 and VPC2. Over the course of one month, VPC1 sent 100 GB of data to VPC2 through the transit router, with no data transfer from VPC2 to VPC1. The fees are calculated as follows:

Connection fees:

  • The hourly rate for two VPC connections in the Chinese Mainland is 0.05 USD/connection/hour.

  • Assume there are 30 days in this month. The total connection duration is 30 days × 24 hours = 720 hours.

  • The connection fees are 0.05 USD/connection/hour × 2 VPC connections × 720 hours = 72 USD.

Data transfer fees:

  • The hourly rate of data transfer is 0.02 USD/GB.

  • Ingress traffic from VPC1 to the transit router amounts to 100 GB, while ingress traffic from VPC2 to the transit router is 0 GB.

  • Data transfer fees are 0.02 USD/GB × (100 GB + 0 GB) = 2 USD.

Total monthly fees:

  • Connection fees: 72 USD.

  • Data transfer fees: 2 USD.

  • The total charges are 72 USD + 2 USD = 74 USD.

Example 2: Inter-region connection

image

As illustrated in the preceding figure, two transit routers have been created in a CEN, one in China (Hangzhou) and the other in China (Shanghai). Each region hosts a VPC, which is connected to the transit router in its respective region. An inter-regional connection has been created between the two transit routers. Over the course of a month, VPC1 transmitted 100 GB of data to VPC2, while VPC2 sent no data to VPC1. The fees for this scenario are calculated as follows:

Connection fees:

  • The hourly rate for two VPC connections in Chinese Mainland: 0.05 USD/connection/hour.

  • Assume there are 30 days in this month. The total usage duration is 30 days × 24 hours = 720 hours.

  • 0.05 USD/connection/hour × 2 VPC connections × 720 hours = 72 USD.

Data transfer fees:

  • Hourly rate of data transfer: 0.02 USD/GB.

  • Traffic from VPC1 to transit router 1 amounts to 100 GB, while traffic from VPC2 to transit router 2 is 0 GB.

  • Data transfer fees are 0.02 USD/GB × (100 GB + 0 GB) = 2 USD.

Inter-region bandwidth fees (pay-by-data-transfer):

  • The hourly rate for the Gold service in the pay-by-data-transfer method in the Chinese Mainland is 0.108 USD/GB.

  • Traffic from transit router 1 to transit router 2 amounts to 100 GB, while there is no traffic from transit router 2 to transit router 1.

  • Bandwidth fees are 0.108 USD/GB × (100 GB + 0 GB) = 10.8 USD.

Total monthly fees:

  • Connection fees: 72 USD.

  • Data transfer fees: 2 USD.

  • Inter-region bandwidth fees (pay-by-data-transfer): 10.8 USD.

  • Total charges are 84.8 USD.

Note

In this scenario, if you choose the pay-by-bandwidth mode, the hourly rate for connection between regions in the Chinese Mainland is 34 USD/Mbps/month. Assume the bandwidth is 10 Mbps. The inter-region bandwidth fee would be 34 USD/Mbps/month x 10 Mbps = 340 USD. Add the connection and data transfer fees and the total monthly charges would be 72 USD + 2 USD +340 USD = 414 USD.
