:Use Alibaba Cloud CDN

Last Updated:Jan 26, 2026

If your website is hosted on an Alibaba Cloud instance located in Chinese mainland and uses Alibaba Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN) to accelerate content delivery, you must configure a domain name for CDN. If you want to use the domain name for CDN to accelerate content delivery in Chinese mainland or global regions, you must apply for an Internet Content Provider (ICP) filing for the domain name for CDN. This topic describes the ICP filing requirements for using Alibaba Cloud CDN.

The following section answers two frequently asked questions about ICP filing requirements:

  • Do I need to apply for an ICP filing for the domain names?

    Domain name

    Scenario

    Is an ICP filing required

    Website domain name

This domain name is used by users to access the website. The domain name is resolved to an instance located in Chinese mainland.

    Yes

    Domain name for CDN

This domain name is used by CDN to cache the resources of the origin server to CDN nodes.

    • Acceleration in Chinese mainland or global regions: yes.

    • Acceleration in regions outside the Chinese mainland such as Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), and Taiwan (China): no. Instead, you must apply for a Public Security Bureau (PSB) filing.

    Note

If you have applied for an ICP filing for the website domain name www.example.com, you do not need to apply for ICP filings for its subdomains. We recommend that you use a subdomain as the domain name for CDN, such as video.example.com or *.example.com.

  • Do I need to add Alibaba Cloud to the ICP filing information as a service provider?

Before you can use Alibaba Cloud CDN to accelerate content delivery for a domain name in Chinese mainland or global regions, make sure that you have obtained an ICP filing for the domain name from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). You are not required to add Alibaba Cloud to the ICP filing information as a service provider.
