Elastic IP Address (EIP) supports the subscription billing method. Subscription EIPs support only the pay-by-bandwidth metering method.
Description
Item | Description |
Billing rule | The subscription billing method requires you to pay for resources before you can use the resources. You can use the subscription billing method to reserve resources in advance. |
Scenarios | We recommend that you use the subscription billing method in the following scenarios:
|
Billing cycles and bill generation time | The billing cycle of a subscription resource is the subscription duration (UTC+8). A billing cycle starts from the time when the subscription is purchased or renewed, and ends at 24:00:00 on the expiration date. A bill is generated on the first day of the next calendar month. The time when bills are issued is determined by the system. |

|
Resource status after expiration | 72 hours (3 days) after an EIP expires, the EIP is suspended. 72 hours (3 days) after an EIP is suspended, the EIP is automatically released and cannot be renewed after it is released. You can renew an EIP before it is released or expires. For more information, see Renewal policy. |
Refund policy | You cannot release or unsubscribe from subscription EIPs. |
Bandwidth fee
You are charged a bandwidth fee based on the maximum bandwidth and subscription duration of a subscription EIP.
Bandwidth fee = Bandwidth unit price (USD/month) × Subscription duration (month)
EIP Unit: Mbit/s.
If the price information provided in the following tables is different from the price information provided on the buy page in the console, the information on the buy page shall prevail.

EIP association fee
If you purchased EIPs for the first time after 00:00:00 (UTC+8) on January 15, 2020, you are charged an EIP association fee. If you purchased EIPs before 00:00:00 (UTC+8) on January 15, 2020, you are not charged an EIP association fee.
In a calendar day, whether you are charged an EIP association fee is determined based on the number of times that EIPs are associated by each account in each region.
Free of charge: EIP association times ≤ five times the quota
Charged: EIP association times > five times the quota
You are charged USD 0.149 for each extra association. Association fees are calculated and bills are generated on a daily basis.
If the quota on EIPs is changed, EIP association fees are still charged based on the original quota on the day when the change is made. EIP association fees are charged based on the new quota starting the next day.
The quota is equal to the default number of EIPs that your Alibaba Cloud account can own. For more information about how to view quotas, see View and manage quotas.
Example: Assume that your account has a default quota of 20 EIPs. On May 6, 2024, the quota is increased to 30.
On and before May 6, 2024, the number of times that you can use this account to associate EIPs in each region per day is: 20 × 5 = 100.
If you associate EIPs 110 times in a region, you are charged a total fee of USD 1.49 for the extra association times.
Starting May 7, 2024, the number of times that you can use this account to associate EIPs in each region per day is: 30 × 5 = 150.
Billing examples
Assume that you purchased a subscription EIP in the China (Hangzhou) region on June 14. The maximum bandwidth of the EIP is 10 Mbit/s and the EIP expires at 00:00:00 on July 15. Total fee for the EIP: [17.00 + (10 - 5) × 11.83] (USD/month) × 1 (month) = USD 76.15
