Notice on Security Center client upgrade for enhanced anti-ransomware capability

Dear user,
To provide more stable database backup anti-ransomware services, Alibaba Cloud will upgrade Security Center clients on August 1, 2024.
In this upgrade, all clients in the China (Chengdu) region for which the database backup anti-ransomware policy is enabled will be upgraded to the latest version. During the process, your backup schedules may fail to be executed. If you encounter issues or need further assistance during the upgrade, you can contact us at any time by submitting a ticket or calling the service hotline.

FAQ
1. How do I determine whether my business is affected by this upgrade?
(1) Only the business of users who configure the database backup anti-ransomware policy is affected. You can go to the Security Center console, choose Protection Configuration > Host Protection > Anti-ransomware to go to the Anti-ransomware page, and check whether the database backup anti-ransomware policy is enabled.
(2) Only clients in the China (Chengdu) region for which the database backup anti-ransomware policy is enabled will be upgraded to the latest version. Clients in other regions are not involved. If your ECS instances that host your business with the database backup anti-ransomware policy enabled do not reside in the China (Chengdu) region, your business is not affected.

2. What are the risks of this upgrade?
If you execute your backup schedules during the upgrade, the execution may fail. In this case, Security Center will notify you by sending emails, text messages, or internal messages. You can check the notifications about results of anti-ransomware tasks on the Notification Settings page in the Security Center console.
