Announcement of Red Hat Product Subscription Price Change on Alibaba Cloud

The price of Red Hat product subscription on Alibaba Cloud will change.
Background
Red Hat announced on January 26, 2024 that it will update the cloud pricing model for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) starting on April 1, 2024, to better accommodate growing public cloud instance sizes and procurement models. Change content
The scope of the change covers Red Hat products provided by Alibaba Cloud, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and RHEL for SAP.
● Price before change: Based on vCPU range of ECS instances, each range has a fixed price.
○ RHEL price:
■ 1 vCPU ~ 4 vCPU: monthly subscription (43.00 USD/month), yearly subscription (501.00 USD/year), pay-as-you-go (0.063 USD/hour)
■ 5 vCPU and above: monthly subscription (95.00 USD/month), yearly subscription (1099.00 USD/year), pay-as-you-go (0.14 USD/hour)
○ RHEL for SAP price:
■ 1 vCPU ~ 4 vCPU: monthly subscription (69.00 USD/month), yearly subscription (827.00 USD/year), pay-as-you-go (0.105 USD/hour)
■ 5 vCPU and above: monthly subscription (154.00 USD/month), yearly subscription (1820.00 USD/year), pay-as-you-go (0.23 USD/hour)
● Price after change: Based on vCPU range of ECS instances, each range is priced linearly according to vCPU.
○ RHEL price:
■ 1 vCPU ~ 8 vCPU: monthly subscription (10.15 USD/vCPU/month), yearly subscription (105.54 USD/vCPU/year), pay-as-you-go (0.015 USD/vCPU/hour)
■ 9 vCPU ~ 127 vCPU: monthly subscription (7.61 USD/vCPU/month), yearly subscription (79.16 USD/vCPU/year), pay-as-you-go (0.0113 USD/vCPU/hour)
■ 128 vCPU and above: monthly subscription (6.60 USD/vCPU/month), yearly subscription (68.60 USD/vCPU/year), pay-as-you-go (0.01 USD/vCPU/hour)
○ RHEL for SAP price:
■ 1 vCPU ~ 8 vCPU: monthly subscription (15.26 USD/vCPU/month), yearly subscription (158.72 USD/vCPU/year), pay-as-you-go (0.0234 USD/vCPU/hour)
■ 9 vCPU ~ 127 vCPU: monthly subscription (11.45 USD/vCPU/month), yearly subscription (119.04 USD/vCPU/year), pay-as-you-go (0.0169 USD/vCPU/hour)
■ 128 vCPU and above: monthly subscription (9.92 USD/vCPU/month), yearly subscription (103.17 USD/vCPU/year), pay-as-you-go (0.0156 USD/vCPU/hour)
Impact of change
After the RHEL and RHEL for SAP operating system subscription prices change, the cost of your ECS instances based on RHEL or RHEL for SAP will change. You need to determine whether the fee will be reduced or increased based on the number of vCPUs of the ECS instance you have. In most cases, the following applies:
● For ECS instances with vCPU ≤ 12, the RHEL or RHEL for SAP subscription cost will be reduced;
● For ECS instances with vCPU ≥ 14, the RHEL or RHEL for SAP subscription cost will increase.
The new pricing will apply to all yearly and monthly subscription and pay-as-you-go instances, and will take effect in all regions where RHEL and RHEL for SAP subscriptions are sold. The switch period for the new pricing is from 20:00 to 22:00 (UTC+8) on July 31, 2024.
● For yearly and monthly subscription instances, new purchases and renewals before the switch period will be based on the pre-change price, and new purchases and renewals after the switch period will be based on the post-change price.
● For pay-as-you-go instances, the billing before the switch period will be based on the pre-change price, and billing after the switch period will be based on the post-change price.
