Elastic Compute Service (ECS) - Seventh-generation General-purpose, Compute-optimized, and Memory-optimized Instance Families Released
Apr 19 2021
Elastic Compute Service (ECS)Content
Targeted customers: various enterprise users.
Features provided: Provide g7 general-purpose, c7 compute-optimized, and r7 memory-optimized instance families.
Use the third-generation SHENLONG architecture to provide predictable and consistent ultra-high performance. Utilize fast path acceleration on chips to improve storage performance, network performance, and computing stability by an order of magnitude.
Support the virtual Trusted Platform Module (vTPM) feature and implement trusted boot based on Trusted Cryptography Module (TCM) or TPM chips to provide ultra-high security capabilities. During a trusted boot, all modules in the boot chain from the underlying server to the ECS instance are measured and verified.
Support the Enclave feature and provide a virtualization-based confidential computing environment.
Compute:
Offer CPU-to-memory ratios of 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8.
Use the third-generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable (Ice Lake) processors that deliver a base frequency of 2.7 GHz and an all-core turbo frequency of 3.5 GHz to provide consistent computing performance.
Allow Hyper-Threading to be enabled or disabled.
Storage:
Are instance families in which all instances are I/O optimized.
Support only enhanced SSDs (ESSDs).
Provide burstable storage I/O performance for low-specification instances.
Provide high storage I/O performance based on large computing capacity.
Network:
Support IPv6.
Provide ultra-high packet forwarding rates.
Provide burstable network performance for low-specification instances.
Provide high network performance based on large computing capacity.
