Challenge
Netstory sought to swiftly launch its global platform, netshort.com, across North America and Southeast Asia. To promptly connect with audiences in those regions, the website necessitates access to an extensive array of cloud services that are geographically dispersed. Additionally, NetShort intends to develop a comprehensive big data analytics platform to support its reporting requirements.

Architecture
Netshort.com has adopted cloud native technologies for its infrastructure. The platform leverages a microservices architecture, with its backend services deployed on Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK). Service discovery is facilitated by the Microservices Engine, while ApsaraMQ for Kafka ensures seamless communication between these services. Observability is comprehensively managed through CloudMonitor, Simple Log Service, and the Application Real-Time Monitoring Service.
In terms of data management and storage, netshort.com relies on ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL to handle transactional databases and Tair (Redis® OSS-Compatible for caching purposes. Data migration tasks, particularly from the video content database in China, are facilitated by the Data Transmission Service. Moreover, the platform utilizes media-optimized Object Storage Service (OSS) to store its vast collection of short videos efficiently.
For big data processing and analytics, netshort.com employs an extensive suite of tools. This includes DataWorks for data integration and workflow orchestration, Hologres for real-time analytics, Realtime Compute for Apache Flink to process streaming data, and E-MapReduce, which integrates Hadoop, Spark, and other big data components, forming a robust and sophisticated big data ecosystem.

Netstory is set to broaden its international presence by further leveraging Alibaba Cloud's extensive global infrastructure. The company intends to increase its utilization of Alibaba Cloud's media Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) to enhance the storage, processing, and delivery of its digital content.
