Architecture
Cost efficiency, scalability, and technical development support were the key considerations for Pictureworks to maintain its AI-powered imaging solution. After thorough research, Pictureworks chose to partner with Alibaba Cloud for the infrastructure support they needed.
Alibaba Cloud provided the necessary infrastructure and support framework for Pictureworks to develop the AI imaging solution at scale. PW leveraged three key solutions from Alibaba Cloud Platform for AI (PAI), Function Compute, and Object Storage Services (OSS).
Alibaba Cloud Platform for AI simplifies the machine learning lifecycle by providing a fully managed service for deploying machine learning models. This enabled Pictureworks to tweak the AI models as needed within extremely short timelines.
By leveraging Alibaba Cloud Function Compute, Pictureworks was able to effectively build a serverless architecture, eliminating the need for infrastructure management, leading to increased agility and reduced operational overhead. The pay-as-you-go charging model allows Pictureworks to pay for the compute time based on the actual consumption, making it cost-effective for AI imaging.
The Object Storage Service serves as the transient storage of raw photos and generates notifications when new files arrive, triggering the respective processing defined in the Function Compute. Like the Function Compute, Pictureworks is charged only according to the actual storage used.
