Established in 1996, CHARLES & KEITH is a Singaporean fashion label that creates collections (shoes, bags, eyewear, accessories, and costume jewelry) that enhance life and work. From a single footwear shop in the suburbs to an international network offering memorable retail experiences in physical stores and online, CHARLES & KEITH’s humble beginnings are a testament to its challenger spirit, which has put Singapore on the map as a place of originality and creativity.
With a deep-seated belief in social and environmental responsibility, CHARLES & KEITH has partnered with international organizations (such as UN Women, Dress for Success, The Asia Foundation, Save The Children, UNICEF, Red Cross, WWF, and Plastic Bank). Challenges
CHARLES & KEITH expanded its retail presence after launching its e-commerce website in 2004. Since then, CHARLES & KEITH has established a retail presence of nearly 700 stores in over 30 countries, with a strong foothold in the Asia Pacific and Middle East. Flagship stores opened in key fashion cities (such as Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, and Dubai). The brand is available online at CHARLESKEITH.COM. The website ships to nearly 60 markets worldwide, including Australia, Europe, and USA. As the business rapidly expands and the organization grows, it becomes crucial for CHARLES & KEITH to undergo digital transformation to ensure agility within the company.

Architecture
Image Search: Enabling predictions through fast-acting Image Search allows CHARLES & KEITH to search based on image similarities. Image Search uses deep learning and machine vision to capture the characteristics of images and then search for images based on the captured information. Before each new product launch, CHARLES & KEITH utilizes Image Search to identify the sales performance of past similar products (such as handbags), helping forecast the likelihood of a new product becoming popular.
Data Middle-End Platform: Overcoming Data Silos CHARLES & KEITH built a centralized data platform using Alibaba Cloud’s Data Middle-End Platform, and data is fed back into the business production system to achieve Data-Driven Business Operations. This helps break down the barriers between each team and overcome data silos.
DataV: Real-Time Customer Traffic Flow Dashboards CHARLES & KEITH leverages DataV to develop real-time customer traffic flow dashboards, enabling faster communication with store teams.
DataWorks + MaxCompute improves operational efficiency by utilizing data. DataWorks is a one-stop big data development and governance platform. CHARLES & KEITH has built a DataWorks big data platform based on the MaxCompute big data computing engine to enable efficient and secure end-to-end big data development and governance. CHARLES & KEITH aims to enhance operational efficiency by activating business data assets and leveraging data analysis tailored to their specific business scenarios.
Hybrid Backup Recovery provides 99.9% reliability and 99.9% availability. As a cost-effective, efficient, and easy-to-manage hybrid cloud storage solution, CHARLES & KEITH uses the Hybrid Backup Recovery service as its backup storage choice.
SAP Migration to the Cloud: Simplify IT Infrastructure SAP on Alibaba Cloud brings reliability, security, and smart solutions to the SAP workloads. CHARLES & KEITH migrated its SAP business data management system to the cloud to help simplify the overall IT infrastructure and accelerate the digital transformation of its enterprise.
