Wan3.0 at General Availability: Capabilities, Benchmarks, Pricing, and the Workflows It Changes

Wan3.0 at general availability: native up to 30 seconds, omni-reference across nine file types, editing carry-forward, and per-second pricing at $0.

Wan3.0 combines 30-second native generation, omni-reference inputs, and transparent per-second pricing at general availability.

Wan3.0 series cover

01 · General availability, with simple per-second pricing

On Aug. 24, 2026, Alibaba Cloud announced the general availability of Wan3.0 across its international channels, with a time-limited launch offer. Standard API pricing is resolution-based and billed per generated second:

Resolution Standard price per generated second
480P $0.05
720P $0.10
1080P $0.20

At those rates, a 30-second draft at 480P costs about $1.50, and a 30-second finish at 1080P costs about $6.00 before any promotional discount.

Exploration and finishing can live in separate budgets.

02 · What shipped: four pillars, one larger creative unit

A single generation can now run up to 30 seconds of video. Wan2.7's window ran from 2 to 15 seconds. Smart duration recommendation and video extension ship with the upgrade. Four themes carry the Wan3.0 release: native 30-second generation, omni-reference, reality-grade rendering, and dynamic motion.

Thirty seconds matters when coherence holds across the additional time: characters, props, space, lighting, sound, and style stable enough for the creative intent to survive. The product implication, in one phrase:

"Not a clip, but a complete story."

03 · The prompt is no longer the only source of creative context

Wan3.0 accepts text, images, audio, and video, and adds structured documents and webpages as reference inputs. Wan3.0 supports DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF, TXT, KEY, Pages, Numbers, and Markdown, subject to intake limits.

A model that consumes more of that context reduces the translation burden between what a team already has and what the model needs. Creative work rarely begins with a clean text prompt. It begins with a brief, a product deck, a script, a mood board, a spreadsheet, a reference clip, a brand document, or a webpage.

Document input earns its place in real work: a product presentation becomes a launch film, a training deck becomes video courseware, spreadsheet data becomes animated charts, and a business report becomes a narrated briefing. The instruction layer shifts from restating information to directing it: what matters, who the audience is, what tone to use, how the camera should behave.

Bring one deck, page, or brief your team already owns and see what Wan3.0 makes of it.

04 · Consistency is a product requirement, not a demo bonus

Wan3.0 targets higher real-world fidelity and tighter reference consistency across characters, props, spaces, and style. Identity, voice, and lip sync are first-class claims of the release.

For professional workflows, this matters more than a single beautiful frame. A commercial video, character sequence, product campaign, or branded social asset becomes unusable when identity, product structure, camera geography, or style drifts from moment to moment. Consistency behaves like a system property: a cat-and-wolf pair stays coherent through a high-speed action sequence, and a multilingual performance keeps identity, stage position, camera axis, voice, lip sync, and beat aligned.

Audio texture and on-screen text rendering accuracy are still maturing. The right claim is therefore narrower and stronger: Wan3.0 expands the production surface while some quality dimensions continue to mature.

05 · Editing carries forward, and it changes iteration economics

Wan2.7 introduced video editing, and Wan3.0 carries it forward. Users can modify visuals, plot, and dialogue without regenerating the entire concept from scratch.

Creative production is rarely a one-shot problem. The closer AI video gets to a loop of generate, review, modify, and continue, the more useful it becomes to teams that already work through feedback cycles.

06 · Where to start

Bring a real brief that creates friction today. Pick one task that requires multiple references, one that needs 20 to 30 seconds of continuity, and one that usually requires a revision pass. Then measure how much manual translation, stitching, re-prompting, and regeneration is still required.

Five tests worth running first:

  • A 20 to 30 second narrative with multiple beats, not one continuous beauty shot.
  • A reference-to-video workflow where identity and prop consistency matter across time.
  • A product deck or webpage converted into a video concept, to test document grounding.
  • A low-resolution draft pass followed by a higher-resolution final generation.
  • An edit pass that changes one dimension of an existing generation rather than starting over.

Pick one of the five tests above and bring the real brief that goes with it. We will scope the run with you.
